Experience ARTober

Oct 1 – 31

This October, San Luis Obispo residents and visitors alike are invited to dive into ARTober and explore diverse experiences by attending a movie screening, going to a live performance, enjoying a museum exhibit, and strolling downtown during the first Friday evening of the month for Art After Dark.

From film and cinema to murals and modern art, live performances to the storied history of the community, San Luis Obispo has no shortage of offerings when it comes to arts and culture. ARTober is a month-long celebration spearheaded by the City of San Luis Obispo’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism.

Each week of the month, a nonprofit organization will be highlighted to bring more awareness to the important work they do and the value they bring to the community. The first 50 people to visit and support that week’s featured organization will receive a free ARTober tote bag. Featured organizations include the SLO Film Center at the Palm TheatreSLOMASLO Repertory Theatre, the History Center of San Luis Obispo County, and SLO County Arts.

ARTober will also bring the popular Piano in the Plaza program back for the second year in a row. Throughout the month of October, Mission Plaza will be home to an upright piano painted by local artist, Missy Reitner-Cameron. The piano will be open to the public to play from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily. Community members are invited to sit down and help fill the plaza with music all month long.
