From the “United States of Sweet” takeover on Sweet’s Snapchat Discover to Goop’s “California Coastal Road Trip” feature, San Luis Obispo is making the headlines once again. Here are a few highlights from July 2016.
Whether you’re a visitor or local, it’s time to take an adventure around this wonderful oasis we call San Luis Obispo. Sweet, a Snapchat Discover brand and digital outlet, selected San Luis Obispo as one of the cities to feature in their “United States of Sweet” series, including a day-long Snapchat takeover and digital articles so visitors can continue to enjoy the features.
In the “48 Hours in San Luis Obispo, Sweet-Style” piece, these globetrotters hit many of SLO’s best things to do, such as vintage shopping at Ruby Rose and Len Collective, eating at local favorites like Old San Luis Barbecue Company and Taqueria de Santa Cruz, paddle boarding in Avila Beach, sipping on craft beer at SLO Brew and Libertine Brewing Company, record hunting at Boo Boo Records and stopping at the infamous Bubblegum Alley and Sunset Drive-In.
The pop-culture gurus at Sweet also featured special segments on Sidecar Cocktail Co. in the “Cure to Cocktail Boredom” piece, Pete Ljepava, the savvy mustache expert from the Bunker in the “Grooming Tips from a Mustache Expert” segment, and Left Field, a local shop filled with unique goods and original art in the “Your Home is About To Get a Little Funky” feature. Now, it’s your turn to explore all these one-of-a-kind spots around San Luis Obispo.
Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle publication, recently featured San Luis Obispo in their dream California road trip. During their scenic drive down Highway 1, Goop explored cities along the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles, noting that all the stops were “worthy destinations in and of themselves.”
Incorporating well-known spots like Big Sur and Santa Barbara, Goop also stopped in San Luis Obispo and encouraged road trippers to visit the lavish Madonna Inn and spend time relaxing at Central Coast beaches.
Featured as one of the best wine regions across the United States, StyleCaster highlights the range of wines, great food and good people as reasons you should visit the Central Coast wine region. They note SLO as an “amazing destination for wine, food, travel and history,” and urge readers to tour Kynsi Winery in San Luis Obispo.
