Hit the outdoors

Heading outside means playtime for everyone – but especially for dogs. El Chorro Dog Park is one of the city’s premier dog parks, with fenced-in areas and splash tubs for pups and shaded picnic tables for their humans. Laguna Lake has an off-leash dog park where your furry friend can run free. Both are excellent choices for dog families looking to throw the ball around and have some quality outdoor time.

Dogs and dunes

Further afield, dog-friendly beaches offer the ultimate socially-distanced experience for humans. Prepare to get a little sandy while playing at Morro Strand State Beach, where a three-mile stretch of sandy shoreline awaits. Chase the waves and seabirds with your dog while enjoying an afternoon away from any crowds.

Wagging and wellness

After a day of playing, your pooch is going need some pampering. Visit Doggie Salon & Spa for some canine wellness, where treatments to bathe and groom will leave them feeling like new. And if you’re feeling generous afterwards, pick up a few gifts for your pets at Tails Pet Boutique or Lemos, local pet stores with treats and toys for dogs of all sizes.

While their humans should maintain proper social distancing, anyone with a tail and a cute little furry face doesn’t have to worry too aggressively about social distancing! But they’ll need something to chew on while their humans lap up some local wine later at a pet-friendly venue like Tolosa Winery, right?
