Sharing SLO at Barrels in the Plaza

Posted May 8, 2015

One of the many reasons I love to call San Luis Obispo home is the fact that we live in our very own little wine country.  Paso Robles alone contains over 200 wineries and when you add Edna Valley into the mix… well, I think it’s safe to say it may take a few trips to hit all of those vineyards and tasting rooms. Of course I’ve developed a few favorites over the years (Chamisal, Sextant, and Justin topping my list) but I always enjoy venturing out and trying new flavors and varietals as well.

Luckily for me, April was Roll out the Barrels here on the central coast, which means all month long, wineries offer all sorts of treats, from rare release tastings and food pairings to winemaker meet-and-greets and farm-to-table dinners. The best part of all (in my opinion) would have to be Barrels in the Plaza, where wineries and restaurants alike come together downtown in Mission Plaza to showcase some of their best tasting wine and offer bites to eat.
