Posted July 18, 2016

Have you jumped on the Pokémon Go bandwagon? If not, now is the time to get started! We’re here to help you by the sharing our list of a few places to capture those rare and exotic Pokémon.

Madonna Inn

All that Pokémon hunting can be tiring! Refuel at the Madonna Inn and you might just find some Pokémon while you’re there, too. Be sure to grab a slice of famous champagne cake for dessert – we’ve heard it’s a favorite of Pokémon, so snag some before it’s gone!

Near Downtown SLO

Word on the street is that Pokémon like to explore the public art around SLO, specifically the utility box on the corner of South and Higuera streets. We’d recommend taking a walking tour of the boxes throughout SLO – you never know what Pokémon you might find.

Needing a mid-hunt break for lunch or dinner? Explore restaurants in Downtown San Luis Obispo that have Pokéstops nearby such as Bello Mundo Cafe, Granada Bistro, Woodstock’s Pizza and Ben Franklin’s Sandwiches, a Pokémon gym.

Attractions in Downtown SLO

Once you’ve caught all the artsy Pokémon, swing by Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, where you can capture endless Pokémon throughout Mission Plaza. You can even make your mark on Bubblegum Alley while catching rare Pokémon, too.

Mitchell Park

Take a stroll through Mitchell Park, where locals and visitors alike gather to battle and catch um all! The Mitchell Park Gazebo is a PokéStop, too.

Laguna Lake Park

Stop by Laguna Lake Park to pick up your potions and eggs from the Pokéstop!

Railroad Square

All aboard the Pokémon train! Take a stroll through Railroad Square and you may run into some Pokémon. Be sure to stop by the San Luis Obispo Train Station, a gym, and the SLO Railroad Museum, a PokéStop, too. Stay hydrated while hunting by enjoying a cup of coffee or tea from Sally Loo’s.

We’ll continue to update our Pokémon Go SLO map so check back to discover new Pokéstops and gyms! Show us where you’re finding Pokémon in SLO by tagging ‪#‎ShareSLO‬. Ready… GO!
