Saxophonist Ernie Watts & Pianist Bill Cunliffe

The SLO County Jazz Federation is excited to present two time Grammy-winning saxophonist Ernie Watts in a rare duo outing with the extraordinary pianist Bill Cunliffe on Saturday February 18 at 7:30 pm at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in SLO.  Ernie Watts has been featured on over 500 recordings with artists ranging from Cannonball Adderley, Marvin Gaye, Frank Zappa and Charlie Haden.  In addition to playing with the Johnny Carson band for 20 years, he has toured internationally for over 30 years.  He has been described as “one of the best saxophonists in the world today”.  Bill Cunliffe is also a Grammy award winner and winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition.  He has played with Frank Sinatra, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson and James Moody among many others.  He is an acclaimed arranger and educator and is currently a “distinguished faculty member” at Cal State Fullerton.

 

The concert starts at 7:30 pm (with doors opening at 7 pm) at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church.  The church is located at 1701 Fredericks Street in SLO.  Tickets can be purchased at my805tix.com and at the door for $30 (general), $20 (Jazz Federation members) and $10 (students).
