‘Tis the season for holiday cheer and San Luis Obispo is feeling it even if it’s a little different this year! You can still experience the magic of the holiday season with us with some brand new activities throughout SLO that are sure to be lit.

Twinkle and Shine

The holiday parade will be back in the future, but this year the city is preparing to launch a massive light installation through Mission Plaza and all of Downtown SLO. Day and night visitors can wander the installations. Additionally, storefronts and parklets throughout Downtown will be bringing sparkle to their businesses by allowing the community and visitors alike to participate. You can nominate a business for the People’s Choice award through QR codes on each installation. It is going to be #SLObright!

Santa’s House will fly in from the North Pole to its usual spot in Mission Plaza, but this year photo opportunities will be only with a life-size photo of Santa outside the house. Santa will still be responding to any and all letters left at his house, so many sure the children are jotting down how good they’ve been.

For children and parents alike, the holiday spirit is standing tall at Mission Plaza with its illuminated menorah and a beautifully-decorated, 20-foot tall, fully-lit live tree offering the perfect photo op.

A Holiday Hunt

To engage children in SLO, send them on the search for Santa Mouse. This free activity book, available at shops around Downtown, includes a scavenger hunt with eight clues for kids and families to find together as they stroll the charming streets and shops. Each activity book features the opportunity to win a prize! The Search for Santa Mouse scavenger hunt is a safe and social distant-friendly holiday activity brought to you by the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum.

The holidays will be merry and bright for everyone passing through San Luis Obispo this year as we prepare to bid a very happy farewell to 2020!
