SLO’s favorite shop local incentive is back! This holiday season, spend $100 at local retailers in San Luis Obispo, turn in your receipt(s) at the Visitor Center, and get a $25 gift card to another local business!
Unique Gifts in Charming SLO
In a town filled with so much charm, there is no shortage of great businesses where you can find the perfect gift for everyone on your list! Something for your artistic friend? Try Buen Dia’s selection of SLO-themed prints. Something for the wine lover? Central Coast Wines has a huge selection of local bottles and an expert team to find the perfect pour. Something for the person who has everything? The Ah Louis Store has a great variety of only-in-SLO items by creators, makers and farmers from the Central Coast. Whatever you’re looking for, enjoy the search while supporting SLO’s unique small businesses.
Boost Your Holiday Budget
As if shopping local wasn’t already rewarding, Buy Local Bonus will pad your holiday spending budget and stretch your dollars even further. In the spirit of holiday giving, only retail receipts will count towards your $100. But don’t worry, Eat Local Bonus will return for its second year in January! From January 2-31, spend $100 at any restaurant, brewery, coffee shop, bakery (you get the jist), and we’ll give you a $25 gift card. And, we’re excited to unveil the first SLO Restaurant Week from January 12-21, where local restaurants will put together special pairing options and diners can win great prizes. Stay tuned for more details soon!
A huge part of what makes SLO so special are the charming shops that fill the many turn-of-the-century mercantile buildings downtown. In a time where online shopping and big box stores are making it tough for local businesses to survive, choosing to shop at local stores is choosing to invest in the dreams of your neighbors, friends, and fellow community members. That’s what we call a win-win. Happy local spending!
City of SLO’s Holiday Treat
But wait, there’s more! As an extra gift for visitors downtown, the City of SLO is waiving parking fees throughout the holidays. The first hour of parking each day is free in the three structures, and the entire day is free every Sunday through New Year’s Day as well as Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve!
