Insight Studio I BIPOC Business Walk

Saturday, April 12, 9 – 11 am
SLO Chamber of Commerce
895 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo CA 93401

The SLO Chamber of Commerce invites participants to join them the morning, April 12, for a free BIPOC Business Walk to get the chance to personally meet the owners behind a few of downtown San Luis Obispo’s exciting BIPOC*-owned businesses. In this follow-up to our Celebrating Inclusive Business Practices workshop, guests will be brought to businesses in person so you can touch, see and taste the vibrancy their teams are bringing to our community. Take a stroll through the city, learn more about why it’s so important to support local business, and get some treats along the way!

This event is part of an ongoing collaboration for the Community Belonging Series between the SLO Chamber’s Business Supporting Business program, the City of SLO’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Cal Poly’s Office of University Diversity and Inclusion. This is your chance to learn how you can celebrate diversity, uplift and support connections across our community and help our economy thrive.

The businesses and representatives sharing their story along this walk include:

– Feben Teffera, Ebony SLO

– Chris Patterson , CJ’s BBQ Smokehouse

– Adam Kemp, Thrifty Beaches, LLC

– Pedro Arias Lopez, Cresencio Hernandez Villar, Sara McGrath, Corazon Cafe

– Jonathan Ventura, Helena Cortes, Buen Dia

Sign up today for this unique, free experience to visit these businesses that add so much vibrancy to our community. If you can’t make it to the event, a self-guided BIPOC Business Walk map will be available in our Visitor Center all day with special promotions along the route.

This event will involve walking to multiple business locations downtown running from approximately 9-11 a.m., some flexibility regarding the locations and timing is appreciated! Please reach out to [email protected] if any assistance would help make the experience pleasant for you.
