Top Things to Do in Summer 2017

Posted June 1, 2017

Summertime in San Luis Obispo is the absolute best. Longer, warmer days means there is a lot more time to explore all that SLO has to offer. Check out a few of our top things to do in SLO this summer below.

Take a trip to the beach

There is no better way to soak up the summer sunshine than at the beach on the Central Coast. You can catch a wave at Pismo Beach, splash around with your pup at Fisherman’s Beach (aka dog beach) in Avila, and even ride ATVs at the Oceano Dunes. San Luis Obispo is surrounded by several amazing beaches, each offering a little something different providing you with endless beach fun.

Take a hike

Enjoy the beautiful weather by taking a hike. Whether you prefer a strenuous workout or would rather take a leisurely stroll, there are many hiking options to choose from. Every hike offers unique, gorgeous views of the Central Coast, making the climb to the top well worth it…even as temperatures rise. Check out some locals’ favorite hiking spots around San Luis Obispo for inspiration.

Go on a boat tour

Relax and enjoy the cool, coastal breeze on the water. Take a boat cruise in Morro Bay, paddle board near Avila Beach, or kayak all the coast in Cayucos. If you’re lucky, you might even see some whales or dolphins while you’re out n’ about on the water! Set sail and explore on one of the many boat tours and cruises in SLO county.

Farmer’s Market

Nothing says summertime like some mouthwatering BBQ and delicious, fresh fruit. Get your fix at the Farmers’ Market in Downtown San Luis Obispo every Thursday from 6:00-9:00 pm. San Luis Obispo’s world famous market is truly a foodie paradise, with the heavenly aromas of BBQ tri-tip, freshly-fried mini donuts, and sweet, yellow corn on the cob. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of live entertainment at almost every corner of the market.
