SLO Farmers’ Market in Summer

Posted July 15

Discover the top 5 reasons to add San Luis Obispo Farmers’ market to your summer schedule!

Fresh Berries

Berries are in season! My personal favorite at San Luis Obispo Farmers’ Market is the berry combo package, which includes freshly picked strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. You just can’t resist! As a treat, I like to top off my fruit medley with homemade whip cream or blend it into a smoothie in the morning.

Delicious Dinner for under $10

Legendary tri-tip sandwiches, ahi tacos, fire-roasted corn-on-the-cob, even ramen burgers – the choice is yours! As you wander down Higuera, you will discover the endless options from homemade Italian meatballs to teriyaki chicken straight off the grill. MMMM good!

Bundle of Sunflowers for $5

Nothing says summer like sunflowers! They always add that pop of color that brightens a room and gets your house into the summer spirit. You can’t beat the prices at the market either – a bundle of sunflowers for just $5! Also, there is a new addition of $1 roses, which (hint hint) is the perfect way to win over your date on a Thursday night.

Fresh Mini Donuts

Sugar Lips is a SLO Farmers’ Market classic! Their mini donuts are made on the spot with your choice of toppings – cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, or sprinkles. As a seasoned Sugar Lips’ customer, I suggest a mix of cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar.

Live Music

Finally, on these warm summer nights, nearly every side street has captivating entertainment whether it’s a student drum squad or acrobatic gymnasts! This year, the market added the “Fresh Picked Concert Series,” featuring local music on the first Thursday of each month until September.

As you can see, whether you are attending solo or with the whole clan, everyone will enjoy their Thursday nights out at San Luis Obispo Farmers’ Market! If you’re looking for things to do in San Luis Obispo this summer, the weekly Farmers’ Market is THE place to start. All summer long, you can appreciate outdoor concerts, farm-to-table dinners at an affordable price, stumble into old friends, and even grab fresh produce for the week. Sounds too good to be true? Well, that’s SLO for you!

PS – If you can’t make it Thursday, there is a great Saturday morning farmers’ market in the World Market/Embassy Suites parking lot! Check it out.
