The San Luis Obispo Friends of the Library (SLO FOL) will wrap up its 2026 book sale season with a Fall Book Sale Thursday, October 15 through Saturday, October 17. The sale will be held in the Community Room of the San Luis Obispo Public Library, located at 995 Palm Street on the corner of Palm and Osos streets.
With more than 7,500 pre-owned books for adults, teens, and children, shoppers will find plenty to explore including fiction, mysteries, cookbooks, art, history, travel, adventure and children’s books plus a selection of music CDs and puzzles.
Additionally, the sale will contain a featured offering of books on the history of SLO County and California, curated in collaboration with the History Center of San Luis Obispo County. Vintage books by local authors will also be highlighted. Items in this collection will be priced as marked.
“The response to our book sales this year has been terrific and we’re hoping to make our fall sale the best yet. We’re especially excited to be working with the History Center to bring forward this special collection of local and state historical books” said Karen Perry, President of the SLO FOL. “It’s always great to see the community come together around books and we’re looking forward to ending the year on a high note.”
Not only can shoppers fill their bookshelves while supporting the San Luis Obispo Public Library, purchasing pre-owned books also gives thousands of books a second life helping keep them out of landfills.

- Saturday: $5 per bag or $10 per box

SLO FOL members receive three hours of early access on Thursday, October 15, from 9:00 am to noon, before the sale opens to the public. Individuals who are not yet members can join at the door or online at https://www.slofol.org/membership/. Memberships start at $10 for individuals and $20 for households, providing an easy way to support the library while enjoying early shopping privileges.
The Fall Book Sale is SLO FOL’s final book sale of 2026 and one of three annual fundraising sales organized by the organization. The books have been donated by community members throughout the year and are carefully inspected, sorted by category, and prepared for sale by SLO FOL volunteers.
All proceeds directly benefit the San Luis Obispo Public Library, helping fund programs, services, and collections for children, teens, and adults.
