The Fall Jazz Concert will feature selections exploring the diverse styles that have influenced 20th- and 21st-century jazz performance. From swing and hard bop to Latin American and Caribbean traditions, soul, and funk, the program highlights the music of composers and bandleaders Charles Mingus, Thad Jones, Mongo Santamaría, and others whose contributions continue to influence jazz today. The concert will include performances by the University Jazz Band, Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Combos, as well as original compositions and arrangements by Cal Poly students.
