If you’re in town early in the morning, head to Linnea’s for an outdoor coffee and pastry. SLO locals are coffee fiends and that will become abundantly clear once you have your first sip. If you’re hungry, don’t skip out on the waffles, either. Seriously, try them!
You can spend your time outdoors doing what locals do best – hitting the trails. Hiking in the natural spaces surrounding the city provides all of the breathing space and panoramic views needed to reboot your mind and spirit. Check out the iconic views and maybe give Serenity Swing a visit!
Treat Yourself
By then you’ll likely be hungry, so don’t pass up a chance to taste the seriously succulent sauce at Mo’s Smokehouse BBQ. It’s a natural fit for outdoor dining! Plus, after burning all those calories hiking, you deserve a reward. And what better a reward than treating yourself to a shopping spree:enjoy one-of-a-kind boutique shopping in downtown SLO.
Taste the Local Flavors
Have an early evening drink at Liquid Gravity Brewing in their patio seating. Craft beers like their Creamsicle-inspired IPA may be just the unique tasting you’re looking for in San Luis Obispo. Nibbles are required with your drink orders, so don’t be shy about ordering a bit to eat.
Just don’t fill up too fast because evening dining awaits. SLO is full of unique eateries, and if you are free for the evening, you might as well sample the wares. Try Mistura Restaurant for some patio Peruvian fare. Chef Nicola Allegretta focuses on sustainability in his dishes – as you’d expect of a SLO restaurant.
You may not have planned on having the day off or passing through San Luis Obispo, but you’ll end the night planning another staycation or road trip for a longer stay. Of that, we’re sure!
