With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, today is your day to give an old dog a second chance at love.

Bang the Drum Brewery and TumbleRoot, have teamed up to host Puppy Love: A Benefit for Second Chance at Love this evening, Wednesday, February 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for couples and singles alike.

Founded in 1994 to take care of, as they put it, “our society’s dog outcasts,” Second Chance at Love, is a local nonprofit, no-kill humane society where volunteers rescue, care for and find homes for homeless dogs.

With the help of Cesar Milan, the dog behaviorist known for his role on National Geographic’s “The Dog Whisperer,” Second Chance at Love has developed a program where behavior issues are solved through providing exercise, leadership and discipline for their rescue dogs. They seek to reduce overpopulation and the number of homeless animals through aggressive neutering programs and educating the public on these matters.

If helping these neglected creatures wasn’t enough to pique your interest, there will be two craft beer pouring stations and food for humans, as well as treats and puppy “beer” for our four-legged friends in a dog-friendly atmosphere. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to live music by San Luis Obispo-native Reese Galido. In addition to a raffle and donation jars, $1 of every beer sold will go directly to Second Chance at Love.

The Puppy Love event will be hosted at Bang the Drum a SLOcal, family-owned, hand-crafted beer and mead brewery, located at 950 Orcutt Rd.
