Central Coast Wine Country

The Central Coast wine region is one of the crown jewels of SLO.

You know you're in the heart of San Luis Obispo wine country when you see back country roads lined with vineyards and blue skies.

Some of the finest vineyards in the world, nurtured by the mild Mediterranean climate, thrive just south of the city. In San Luis Obispo, wine creates a culture of experience and brings people together. A trip to Paso Robles wine country and San Luis Obispo wine country both lead to memorable vacations.

Discover the wine culture at its purest: breathtaking, untarnished; free of imitation and pretension. A relaxing drive through San Luis Obispo's revered wine country offers spectacular views of rugged hills, vast rows of green vineyards, crystal-blue skies and the tastes of some of the finest wines around.

Halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the San Luis Obispo (SLO) wine region is comprised of three pristine viticulture areas: the Edna Valley, Arroyo Grande Valley and Avila Valley.

Here you'll find small, family-owned wineries that are well known for their hand-crafted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, Zinfandel and more.

Just a little taste of Wine Country

Smell the fragrant ocean breeze rustling through the San Luis Obispo Wine Region, carrying the mineral sweet aroma of well-tended grapes and soil. Touring the Central Coast’s wine region a daylong event you don’t want to miss.

Wine lovers recognize this area, as well as the Paso Robles Wine Region, as ideal for producing superior Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, as well as its Rhône varietals.

San Luis Obispo’s microclimate makes it the perfect place for cultivating grapes and producing wine. Some varietals demand the cooler air of the San Luis Obispo Wine Region, while others prefer the warmer daytime feel of Paso Robles.

Find out which wines you enjoy the most, and take a little piece of the Central Coast home with you. Taste San Luis Obispo year-round by joining a wine club, and know what it’s like to wish you were here all year long.
